The search assistant „Tell me“

In Office 2016, Microsoft offers a search assistant called Tell me Kursunterlagen Word 2016 Glühbirne on the ribbon on the right of the tab row, which helps you to find needed features very quickly. Depending on the width of the Word window, the text box displays Tell me what you want to do or Tell me.

Click the text in the text field and type the desired task, e.g. print. While typing, corresponding features and actions are already displayed in a submenu, which can be performed by mouse click. If there is an arrow Kursunterlagen Word 2016 Pfeil next to one of the entries, clicking it opens another submenu with various commands.

As Tell me remembers the features and actions you perform with it and lists them under Recently Used, frequently used tasks are available very quickly:

However, the assistant doesn’t indicate where the feature can be found on the ribbon, so that you either have to use the assistant futher on or search for the command on the ribbon nonetheless.

Another new possibility to research terms is Smart Lookup, which is introduced on page 134.

Smart Lookup

Smart Lookup helps you to call up information on specific terms in your file without exiting your document.

Open the file Letter with table, office supplies order.docx. Place the cursor in the word delivered or select the whole word and click the Smart Lookup button on the Review tab in the Insights group. Or call up the context menu by right-clicking the word and select the Smart Lookup command.

Word opens the Smart Lookup pane at the right edge of the window. On the Explore tab, you’ll find results from Bing web searches like Wikipedia articles. If you click More, Word will display more results. To call up an entry, click the corresponding heading (hyperlink). Now, your default browser (e.g. Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer) will open with the associated content.

If you only want to view a definition of the term quickly, switch to the Define tab with a mouse click:
